Online registration starts now and ends on Sunday January 20th (or when a club reaches its maximum enrollment; whichever comes first) .

The Winter Session will begin on January 22nd and run through March 8th (makeups will be the week of March 18th & 25th if needed). Please note Early Bird Soccer Session 3 has a slightly different time line.

We have exciting news. We have just added an additional Early Bird club to our offerings. For those of you that have checked out the offerings already we are pleased to announce that we just added Early Bird Lacrosse to the list of early bird clubs.

Come learn from coach Brennan the great sport of lacrosse or fine tune your skills before the Spring. Open to both boys and girls. This fun club will focus on learning skills and playing games. No equipment or previous playing experience needed. Sticks will be provided. Mondays: 1/28, 2/4, 2/11, 2/25, 3/4, 3/1 - Cost $38.00

Students can do a walk-in registration during the first week of clubs (January 22nd thru 25th), IF  there's space available. Walk in's  need to submit a copy of their LIS PTO Student Club Payment Receipt Form to club leaders at the first club meeting.

The Biology of Stress & The Science of Hope

Come to the Lawrence Middle School on Tuesday January 15th and join other parents in viewing this award winning documentary "Resilience".  Learn about the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences and a new movement to treat and prevent toxic stress.  Movie trailer can be view here. Light refreshments will be served and one lucky attendee will win a Visa Gift Card.

PTO Meeting

When - Wednesday January 16th
Location - LIS Library at 7pm

This will be the final PTO meeting of the school year.

We have some great door prizes we will be giving away to some lucky people that attend the meeting.
We are giving away the following:
1.  2 reserved front row seats to the Musical - Alice in Wonderland Jr.
2.  2 reserved front row seats to the Spring concert
3.  A $10.00 PTO gift certificate to be used towards any upcoming event (club, field trip) or spirit purchases (musical shirts, field day shirts, water bottle, and/or magnet).

4th Grade Field Trip Form
Due by January 18th

The 4th grade field trip will be a double event, both the Camden Aquarium and the NJ Battleship on March 8, 2019.

The field trip permission slip is due by January 18th, along with $25 CASH ONLY!!!

Basketball Outing at Rider
January 31st

LIS is going to Rider University on Thursday January 31st to watch Rider play St. Peter's. The game will start at 7pm at Alumni Gym on Rider's Campus.

Permission slip forms went home with students last week. If you need another one you can find it here. The permission slip also contains more detailed information.

General Info: Admission is $5.00. You can order tickets online and use promo code LAWINT19. Tickets ordered online can be printed at home, emailed to yourself or chosen to be picked up at will call.  If you don't want to order online you can bring in an envelope with your child's first and last name and homeroom teacher on it along with $5.00 CASH per ticket to the main office. We will distribute these tickets to your child the day of the game at school.

Permission slips must be returned to the main office by Monday January 28th. And if you want to order tickets thru school with cash, orders must be in the main office by January 28th as well.

Student Council News

School Store:
  The store is open every Thursday morning from 8:20 - 8:30am. Stop by when you get off the bus or when you get dropped off by your parents. A couple of dollars will get you some cute fun items likes smencils, erasers, key chains etc. Store will be set up in the hallway between the faculty room and the stage door.

School Spirit Tastes Great!!!

Make dinner a selfless act by joining us for a fundraiser to support LIS. Come in to the Chipotle at 3524 US Route 1 in Princeton on Saturday, February 2nd between 4:00pm and 8:00pm. Bring in this flyer, show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier you're supporting the cause to make sure that 33% of the proceeds will be donated to LIS.

Mixed Bag Designs Online Fundraiser

We are excited to announce that the LIS PTO has established an online fundraiser with Mixed Bag Designs. 

We have our own custom shopping site. 
Feel free to browse and order anything you want between now and the end of the school year. 

Order once, order twice or more!! All items ship directly to your home and the LIS PTO gets 40% of all sales (minus tax and shipping costs). Feel free to share this specialized launch page with friends and family so they too can buy great products and help raise money for our school!!

Pretzelgrams 2019

As Valentine's Day approaches, we are looking for some volunteers to help with the preparations for Pretzelgram Day at LIS.

There are 3 ways you can help: Sorting, Packaging, and Delivering. Choose the one that best fits your schedule, any help is much appreciated.  Many hands make for light work!

There are 2 days with various time-slots set aside for sorting at one of our volunteers home, whereas the packaging and delivering are both done on Pretzelgram Day, the morning of Feb. 14th at LIS. Please consider helping out at least for an hour or so. You can sign up here.

Thank you for your continued support, without it we could not hold this event as it takes a village to sort and distribute almost 2000 pretzel orders in one morning!!

Pretzel order slips will be available to students soon! Keep an eye out for them in their backpack on Wednesday, January 16th!

2019 LIS Super Shavers

It's that time of the year again!!! Join our LIS Super Shavers 2019 St. Baldrick's team to help raise money for research for childhood cancer and to rid the world of this terrible disease. 

The Big Shave will occur at Amalfi's Restaurant on Saturday March 9th.

Maker Space Donations Needed
Our Maker Space in school is always in need of donations. Please see the list linked here and if you ever have any of these items lying around at home please have your child bring them to school and bring them to Ms. Rubenstein's classroom - the tech lab.

Future President Needed!

We are looking for a PTO president for 2019 - 2020 school year and beyond! 

Anyone that may be interested please contact us. If you are hesitant about taking on this position solo then grab a friend and do it together. We've had co-presidents in the past.  

We would like to get next year's person/people lined up now so they can work with us this year as things come up so once they are off and running themselves next year it will be a smooth and relaxing adventure!  Anyone interested please email us.

LTEF Goes to NJ Devils

Join the LTEF at the New Jersey Devils Game on Sunday, February 17th at 6pm. The Devils will be playing the Buffalo Sabres. For each ticket sold through this link, the LTEF will receive $5! Buy your tickets today.

General Reminders
Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures: Drop off begins at 8:10. No child should be left unaccompanied before 8:10 for safety and supervision purposes. The school doors will open at 8:15 each day. All cars should pull all the way down the driveway to accommodate as many families as possible at arrival and pick up.
Genesis: It is very important that you log in to your parent portal through Genesis.  This is the platform in which you can access report cards and the school uses to contact home when necessary.  Please see the directions following to log in. Once you have logged on, please confirm that your information is correct.

Before & After School Programs
The YWCA of Princeton again will run the district's Before and After School Program. Get details about the program as well as a registration application under the Parents tab on our district website (

Free or Reduced Meal Forms
A new free or reduced lunch application must be filled out each year. The application now can be filed online by using the Genesis Parent Portal. The process is easy. Simply log into the Parent Portal at
* go to the Forms tab
* select the Free and Reduced Lunch Application
After completing the application, click the Submit button. The application is then pending and is available to be reviewed by the district official who determines eligibility. After the application is reviewed, you can find out if you're eligible for free or reduced lunch by checking in your Parent Portal. Please allow a day or two for the decision to be posted. Paper applications are also available on the
district website and in the main office of each school.

Looking For Parents with Special Talents!!!

Every week the LIS students have a short Morning Meeting assembly from 8:40-9:00 am. LIS is looking for parents who have a special talent, skill or job that they are willing to share with the students. If you would be willing to share your talent with the LIS students, please contact your child's house leader. If you have signed up to receive the weekly PTO e-newsletter and have 
NOT been getting them in your inbox (they are sent mid day on Mondays) then please click the "Newsletter Sign Up" link on the left margin, enter your email address, click Continue  and verify that the proper groups (grades) are checked off to match what grade your child/children are in as well as the General Interest box is checked.
And if you are not signed up at all please consider doing so so you don't miss out on all the upcoming school and community news!!

TWO Hour Delayed Openings:  If we are to have a delayed opening it will be a 2 hour delay.  The doors to LIS will open for students 2 hours after regular time (10:15 am). Teachers are expected to sign in 2 hours after regular time (10:30 am) and will start 2 hours after regular time (10:40 am)

General Information - Doors Open 8:15am

LIS doors open at 8:15 am every school day. If your child arrives prior to this start time, they will remain outside until we have staff members on duty to supervise. Especially during these cold winter months, please do not drop off your child until 8:15 am. Our homeroom time runs from 8:40 to 8:50 am. If you child arrives to school after 8:50, they are considered late to school and you will need to come into the main office to sign them into school for the day.
