LIS 4th Grade And Beginner 5th and 6th Grade Instrumental Registration

Getting Started

Welcome to the LIS Music Program! Instrumental music instruction is available to LIS students beginning in Grade 4. Instrumental placement will be assigned in the order in which applications are received.  While every attempt will be made to give every student their first or second choice instrument, we are limited in the lesson spots available. Students will need to provide their own instrument and lesson book. Please wait for verification of your students' acceptance before renting an instrument and buying accessories.

Instruction is offered on the following instruments:

Wind Instruments: flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, baritone, tuba
Some school instruments are available for the following:  french horn, trombone, baritone, tuba
String Instruments: violin, viola, cello, double bass
Some school instruments are available for the following:  cello, double bass
Percussion: bell set and snare drum or drum pad

Lesson Scheduling

Students participating in the LIS Instrumental Music Program will receive an instrumental lesson once every 6 days. These lessons are pulled from academic time.  Students are expected to make up any missed work that occurred in their classroom during their lesson. Students are expected to attend their lessons prepared, practiced and on time, as they will receive a grade based on their performance.  It is recommended that students commit to 4 days of practice each week to be successful in the LIS Instrumental Music Program.

How to register

Instrumental Music registration will be online.  Please submit your form ONLY ONCE!!!! You do not need to register at each of the music teacher's sites. The link will be found on the front page of the LIS website as a featured news story.

Thank you for  your interest in the  instrumental music program at LIS.  We look forward to working with you and your child.

Sincerely,
Allison Kershner, Meredith Lowden and Sharin Rello
